Facility Management is an interdisciplinary field primarily devoted to the maintenance and care of commercial or institutional buildings, such as shopping malls, office buildings and business parks, logistic parks, hotels, resorts, schools, sports arenas, convention centers. Duties may include the care of air conditioning, electric power, plumbing and lighting systems – all part of technical maintenance; cleaning, pest control, space management, decoration, reception, landscaping and security. Technical aspects of these services are usually assisted by BMS (Building Management System).


The main role of the facility management is to coordinate and oversee the safe, secure, and environmentally-sound operations and maintenance of the clients’ assets in a cost effective manner, aiming at long-term preservation of the asset value. In addition, there are also janitorial duties such as making sure the environment is properly cleaned, presentable and sanitized for its tenants and also security duties, which prevent theft and vandalism and assure safe environment for tenants and visitors.


The art of Facility Management is to anticipate and fix a problem before it escalates. Being proactive and not reactionary is of outmost importance for efficient operations at any facility.
